AOW Scientists FAQ
Have questions about how you can utilize the Army of Women to advance your breast cancer research?
The Love/Avon Partnership
The Love/Avon Army of Women is driven by two key partnerships that will accelerate research and prevent breast cancer: the partnership between Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Avon Foundation, and the partnership between scientists and women.
HIPAA Compliance
The Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information (“Privacy Rule”) establishes the national standards for the protection of health information as set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”).
As a recruitment source, the Love/Avon Army of Women is not a HIPAA-covered entity. However, we have chosen to adhere to all HIPAA guidelines. The Love/Avon Army of Women expects that all scientists and centers who seek volunteers through the Army of Women to follow HIPAA guidelines.
The Love/Avon Army of Women does not collect or store health information from Army of Women participants. When and if any health-related questions are asked to determine eligibility for a particular study, the information will NOT be stored electronically or physically. If required by the research protocol, Army of Women contact information will be provided to centers and/or scientists who submit a written request for permission to obtain this information.
