Safeguarding Volunteers

The Love/Avon Army of Women is committed to safeguarding the safety and privacy of each and every woman who joins the Army of Women and responds to a “Call to Action.”

The Army of Women only collects information and biological specimens when they are needed. We do not store information in a database, and we do not maintain a traditional specimen tissue bank.

The Army of Women adheres to all the privacy guidelines required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and will only work with researchers and institutions that adhere to all HIPAA regulations. Since our goal is to help researchers get the volunteers they need, we will not collect or store any health information from any Army of Women participants. In addition, Army of Women contact information will only be provided to centers and/or scientists who have sought written permission because they have study protocols that require this information.
